Hello Everyone! Here is what has been
going on with me since my last update. :)
In August I attended Fit Camp and as always
I was fortunate to train with some outstanding Fitness Factory
athletes and had a great time. Many of us even made time in between
our training to head out to the movies one evening. For those
of you that know me, you'll know that was a big deal for me since
I don't go out to movie theaters very often. I very rarely have
the time nor the patience to sit through an entire movie in one
sitting. I usually wait until it comes out on DVD and watch it
in little increments.
A few weeks later, the hubby and I took
a rode trip to North Carolina to attend the Jan Tana. This was
my first time attending the Jan Tana and I was very impressed
with all the athletes that competed.
As some of you may know, I've started
my own Personal Training business and it has been going quite
well. So, this has been keeping me quite busy.
As part of my business, I hold individual
and group posing classes for Fitness and Figure competitors who
need to learn how to pose properly for their upcoming shows. It
has been a lot of fun. There actually is a lot more to presenting
your physique in the best possible way, than one would think.
My job is to help make these girls feel comfortable up there on
stage and exude confidence. It really pains me to see a girl with
an awesome physique who doesn't place well because she doesn't
know how to present what she's worked so hard to accomplish.
Will Brinks has brought me on aboard as
one of his "Gurus"
along with Charles Staley, Bryan Haycock, Lee Labrada, Milos Sarcev
and Tom Venuto. I answer fitness and nutrition related questions
for the ladies and contribute articles for his sites--About
Supplements and Muscle
Building Nutrition. I also moderate the women's area of each
forum in the member's area of each site.
Soon, I will begin to teach a group fitness
class at a new Martial Arts/Fitness Center in my area. The owners
are very nice people and they are very open to other programs
related to women and children's self-defense that I'd like to
incorporate as the school grows. This is kind of a dream come
true for me because it ties two of my passions together--Martial
Arts and Fitness. I feel very blessed and excited that this opportunity
has presented itself.
Recently, in September, I shot a Gymnastic/Tumbling
training video with my gymnastic coach, Scott Johnson (2-Time
Olympian and 1984 Gold Medalist). I really can't say enough good
things about Scott. I've accomplished so much with him in a short
period of time that I'm in utter amazement. I can't believe I
found so many basic tumbling skills difficult just a few short
months ago. If anyone is in need of a gymnastic coach, would like
to learn a new skill, or brush up on their skills or improve their
skills, he is available and may be contacted at spj84gld@aol.com.
I invite everyone to go to RD
Fitness Productions, for information on how to purchase the
video. It is full of indepth details on how to perform basic tumbling
skills and we even added a section that demonstrated the 6 mandatory
skills required for NPC Fitness competitor routines. I had a great
time working with Scott on this project. I wish something like
this was available when I was first learning. I can't wait to
get my copy so I'll always have it to review.
My training and preparations for next
year's competition season is well underway. I've been training
hard to put on some quality muscle in my off season. My plan is
to bring a more developed and refined physique to the stage next
year. I've also been practicing the dance sequences of my new
routine for next year. It's going to be a pretty exciting routine
and I can't wait until it's done.
