Here is a checklist of items you should
consider packing for competition day. Due to the fact that every
show is run differently and the amenties at each venue vary greatly
from one show to the next, you want to be prepared for every and
any situation.
Must haves: These are items are
absolutely necessary to pack as a Figure/Fitness Competitor.
- One-Piece posing suit.
- Two-Piece posing suit.
- Heels for one-piece and two-piece
round:
- Routine Outfit for routine round.
- Routine Shoes for routine round.
- Socks routine
round.
- Extra
shoe laces if your routine shoes has laces.
- Sports tape & any other protective
gear necessary for the routine round.
- Resistance bands so you don't
have to fight the bodybuilders and fellow competitors for the
pump up area's equipment, which many time is very, very limited.
You can go off into a corner and use your bands and do whatever
you need to do to get pumped up before walking out on stage.
- Routine Music on CD and tape format.
You can't always be sure of the format accepted. It's better
to be prepared to hand in either format.
- Extra copies of Routine Music in
CD and tape format in case something happens to the copy
you turned in at check in time.
- CD or tapeplayer with headphones
to listen to your routine music and help you visualize yourself
doing your routine before going out on stage.
- Hair Accessories: Clips, Bobbi
pins, Ribbons, etc.
- Hair Styling Products & Tools:
Hair Spray, Gel, Hair Dryer, Curling Iron, Straightening Iron,
etc.
- Makeup: This should be mainly
for touch ups. You can't be certain of the time you will have
to prepare before going out on stage, so your makeup should
be done prior to checking in.
- Pocket Mirror: You can't be
sure you'll have mirror space to check your makeup and hair
before walking out onto stage.
- Nail Glue: If you have acrylic
nails, this will come in handy if you happen to break a nail.
- Nail Polish: In the same color
you are wearing just in case you need a touch up.
- Costume Accessories/Props for
routine round.
- Tanning Supplies for touch ups.
- Lotion to help even out and
streaks in your tan.
- Power-Free Latex Gloves:
- Bikini
Bite or Elmer's Glue Stick to glue yourself into your suit,
if necessary. It would be very embarassing to have a boob pop
out as your trying to hit your poses. Furthermore, it's very
unattractive and distracting from a judges viewpoint for a competitor
to constantly be adjusting their suit while on stage because
their suit has crept up their butt.
- Sewing
kit for emergency adjustments to posing suits or fitness
costume. This kit should contain a small pair of scissors to
trim and stray threads.
- Safety
pins to fasten anything
quickly.
- Disposable
camera so you can capture the day. Remember, if you've put
in the hard work, this is the easy part, and you should enjoy
the experience.
- Towel
for minor clean ups or to place on any surface you may sit on.
The tanning products can ruin a venue's furniture.
- Individually
wrapped WetOnes:
This is good for getting tanning product off the palm of your
hands and suits (depends on the material--test a inconspicuous
spot prior to show to be sure it will not damage the color or
fabric.)
- Change
of Clothes for after the show.
- A
small cooler packed with all your food and supplements for
the day.
- "AFTER
Show" Goodies: Mini chocolates, jelly beans, Fruit
Loops or whatever will make you a happy camper and keep you
sane until your celebratory meal.
Nice to have: These are items to
pack only if you have the extra room in your bag and if it is
financially feasible.
- Backup one-piece
- Backup two-piece
- Backup routine outfit
- Backup heels just
in case you break a heel.
- Backup
routine shoes
- Business
cards, Composition Cards & Portfolio: These items are
nice to have if you are approached for photoshoots, modeling
jobs, endorsements/sponsorship inquiries, etc.
